How to Help Seniors Watch the World Cup with JubileeTV

Viewership for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has broken records across North America and Mexico, with over 54 million people tuning in for the opening matches June 11th. For many families, the tournament is more than something to watch — it’s a chance to connect, cheer together, and take part in a global celebration.
Of course — whether navigating confusing TV menus, trying to find the right channel, or figuring out volume issues — helping with senior World Cup viewing isn’t always easy…

1. Create an easy-access 'Favorite Channels' list for Game Day
Caregivers can use the JubileeTV app to create a quick list of all their loved one's favorite channels — so they can skip searching the entire channel guide and get straight to the game.
Once set up in our default Interactive Mode, seniors can simply press the blue J button on their JubileeTV remote, select 'Favorites,' and choose the channel they want. If they’re already watching cable, all they need to do is press the 'Guide' button and up will pop a window with their favorite channels.
For loved ones using Passive Mode with a simplified 6-button TV remote for seniors, the experience is even more streamlined: pressing Channel Up or Channel Down cycles through only the handful of their favorited channels — No menu navigation needed.
2. Skip confusing navigation with Voice Control
Voice Control makes it easy for seniors to find their favorite channel. In Interactive Mode, seniors can just hold the microphone button on the JubileeTV remote and ask for a channel by name or number. They can also switch to a connected device by saying something like “Roku” or “Apple TV.”
With Roku, voice commands can also open supported streaming apps directly. Caregivers can even add simple voice aliases to custom cable channels, so a hard-to-remember station can become something easier, like “soccer” or “World Cup.”
Voice control is not available in Passive Mode.
3. Control senior’s TV remotely with Telescope

Your senior doesn’t even have to lift the remote — the TV simply comes on at the right time, on the right channel, ready for the match.
6. Make sure parents can hear every moment
Is your senior loved one struggling to hear the commentary? Are you worried the volume’s reached full blast? Caregivers can use Listen Mode to briefly hear the television audio as your senior hears it from their TV — so you can actually check if the sound is comfortable instead of guessing from the volume number alone. You can then adjust the volume through Telescope, or set up caption controls based on the broadcaster and device.
7. Celebrate together with Video Calls on TV
The best part of a match isn’t just the game… It’s raving over that pass in the first half, ranting about questionable calls, celebrating wins and commiserating over losses. With JubileeTV’s app, caretakers can start a video call for seniors on their TV, so you can connect before kickoff to compare predictions, debrief during halftime, or break things down after the final whistle.
JubileeTV’s group calling brings together up to four people on your loved one’s TV: the senior plus as many as three friends or family members. Relatives with the JubileeTV app can join directly, while GuestLink lets others enter through a web browser without downloading the app.
8. Check in without interrupting their match
Want to make sure your loved one has everything they need and is comfortable for the game? JubileeTV’s Drop-In feature lets approved family members use the JubileeApp to briefly check in through the TV with one-way video and audio without interrupting gametime fun.
