December Product Updates: Introducing Drop In
The holidays are here, and we're rolling out a few new features to make supporting your loved one as smooth as your favorite eggnog.
Watch this video or keep reading to see what's new this month.
Introducing Drop In
Ever wished you could check on your loved one without waking them, interrupting their favorite show, or sparking a chorus of "What's going on?" questions?
(We heard you—this has been one of your most-requested features!)
With Drop In, you can now see and hear what's happening in your loved one's room without needing to start a video call or even turn on their TV.
It's quick, simple, and provides peace of mind when you can't be there in person.
How Drop In Works
Drop In is a one-way video and audio connection that lets you observe without interrupting.
Getting Started:
- Open the JubileeTV App. If you have JubileeTV connected in multiple rooms, select the room you'd like.
- Tap the Drop In button (located beneath the Telescope button).
Visual Indicator: When you Drop In, an additional LED on the JubileeTV Console will turn green, as a visual indication someone is connected.
Key Features:
- Completely Hands-Free: They don't need to press a button, interact with the TV, or even know you're checking in, beyond noticing the LED.
- One-Way Connection: You can't speak to your loved one-Drop In is purely observational.
Who Can Access Drop In?
Only users with Contact Admin permissions in the JubileeTV App can access the Drop In feature.
When You'll Love Using Drop In
Drop In is perfect for moments when you want to check in without disturbing their day (or night). Use it to:
- See and hear interactions with a home care aide, maintenance person, or other visitor in the home.
- Monitor general activity in the room.
- Ensure your loved one is resting comfortably in their favorite chair.
Improved Telescope Volume Control
We heard you: Adjusting the TV volume with Telescope was tricky when you couldn't tell if it was too loud, too quiet, or just right.
Now, Telescope includes a visual volume level indicator.
- Set a Comfortable Level: Start by setting a baseline for a comfortable TV volume. Learn how to set Comfortable Level.
- Adjust with Confidence: As you change the volume, you'll see how it compares to the baseline.
No more guessing, no more "Grandma, can you hear it now?" drama.
Activity Feed Enhancements
We've made the Activity Feed even more helpful with these updates:
- Photo Frequency: JubileeTV now snaps a photo every time the TV turns on/off or the number of people in the room changes. You can enable and disable photos for TV power events and presence change events in your Activity Feed settings.
- Green Outlines for Presence Detection: See a green outline where JubileeTV detects a person. This makes spotting false detections easier.
- Download Activity Feed Photos: Want to save a photo? Open it, tap Download, and save it to your library or share it with family.
- Smarter Presence Detection: You can now report false detections directly in the app. For example, if JubileeTV thinks the cat is a person (because, of course, cats think they are), tap on the photo and select False Detection. This helps the system learn and improve over time.
Wrapping It All Up
These updates are designed to make supporting your loved one smoother by giving you more confidence, control and peace of mind. Whether you're using Drop In for a quick check, fine-tuning the TV volume with Telescope, or ensuring accuracy with Activity Feed enhancements, every feature is built with your family's needs in mind.
As always, we're grateful to have you as part of the JubileeTV community. Thank you for trusting us to be part of your family's caregiving journey.
From all of us at JubileeTV, we wish you and your family a safe, joyful, and connected holiday season! 🎄
