When an aging parent doesn’t answer the phone, your brain can move fast. “Maybe they’re napping.” “They probably just misplaced their phone again.” But after the second call, then a third? “They’re probably fine” can spin into “should I be worried?” pretty fast.
That uncertainty is one of the hardest parts of long-distance caregiving. You want to respect your parent’s independence and avoid hovering, but you also want to know when something actually needs your attention.
So if you’re trying to figure out how to help elderly parents from a distance while balancing caregiver stress — you’re not alone.
For the times when you can’t be there in person, elderly monitoring systems can offer an extra layer of reassurance between calls and visits for older adults aging in place. That’s where JubileeTV Drop In comes in: a quick, one-way video and audio check that gives caregivers another option between simply waiting and escalating to a call, visit, or in-person check.
JubileeTV’s Drop In is a one-way video and audio system that lets approved caregivers quickly check on loved ones. There’s no incoming call your parents need to answer, no app they have to find, no need to interrupt their day. From the JubileeTV app, caregivers can open Drop In and connect directly to their loved one’s JubileeTV Console for a quick, one-way look and listen.
If your parent isn’t answering, Drop In gives you another option before calling again, letting you quickly see whether your loved one is simply resting, watching TV, or actually needs assistance.
Maybe you know your parent had a long day or is likely settled in for their favorite show. You want to check to make sure they’re okay, but don’t want to make them stop what they're doing. Drop In lets you take a quick look and listen without interrupting their day with a full video call.

Drop In uses the camera and microphones built into the JubileeTV system to give caregivers a quick look and listen from the JubileeTV app.
Here’s how to get started:
Your loved one doesn’t need to lift a finger.
That means you can see and hear what’s happening in the room, but your loved one cannot see or hear you. To get a better listen, Caregivers can also switch between the microphones built into their older loved one’s JubileeTV Console and their JubileeTV remote.
Drop In doesn’t interrupt the TV with an on-screen alert, but a green LED will appear on the JubileeTV Console to let your loved one know whenever the camera is active.
It’s worth talking with loved ones ahead of time about what Drop In does and when you might use it, so everyone’s on the same page. Older loved ones can also choose to close the physical camera cover at any time to block the video feed for privacy.
Drop In access is limited to Primary Admins and Contact Admins, while other Contacts must be specifically enabled by an Admin.
In a nutshell: JubileeTV Drop In is your “I just want to make sure everything’s okay” option, serving as a back-up senior monitoring system for quick peace of mind. But for all the moments where you want to catch up and connect with loved ones — JubileeTV Video Calls are there to bring your conversation onto the biggest screen in the house.

Drop In and TV Video Calling are just the start of how JubileeTV can help you care for elderly parents at a distance. From the same app, caregivers can also:
Send reminders to their TV: Schedule appointment, call, daily-task reminders and medication reminders for seniors right on their TV screen.
Control TV remotely for the elderly: Use Telescope to see what’s on screen, navigate menus, change channels, and adjust volume from afar.
